Hong Kong SDG Hub

Hong Kong SDG Hub is the first of its kind. As a platform which strives to promote the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, Hong Kong SDG Hub invests in social innovation programmes, as well as holds school educational activities and various public events. Key programmes include “Climate Action Recognition Scheme”, “Hong Kong Water Race” and “Water Buddy”.

Hong Kong Water Race

“Hong Kong Water Race” is a city orienteering event that not only promotes the concept of “water footprint” but also, raises public awareness of global water crisis. In the race, participants have to visit various scenic spots and public amenities, and then complete tasks related to “water” in the designated areas. We hope that the competition can engage more and more people to adopt proactive water conservation practices.

Water Buddy

“Water Buddy” is a three-year programme initiated in 2017. Sponsored by HSBC, Hong Kong SDG Hub co-organised the programme with The Open University of Hong Kong to promote environmental protection among local secondary students. Through experiential learning activities, “Water Buddy” has successfully engaged 41 schools and over 1,200 students in conserving river ecology and freshwater resources.

Climate Action Recognition Scheme

“Climate Action Recognition Scheme” is the first platform in Hong Kong which gathers youngsters and entrepreneurs to exchange ideas regarding the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (SDGs). By establishing connections and fostering collaboration, this programme endeavours to nurture young entrepreneurs with climate-positive business ideas so that they are going to make a difference not only to our city but also to the world.
