“Wofoo Neighbour Hub” Services Expand to Yau Tsim Mong – Handicraft Fun with the Elderly

Date : 2026-07-27

The services of Wofoo Neighbour Hub have recently expanded to the Yau Tsim Mong District. We are delighted to partner with more local elderly homes and NGOs in the area. Our volunteer team visited Tai Kok Tsui Elderly Home and Hiu Kwong (Tak Yue) Nursing Centre in July, spending quality time with the elderly through fan painting and sachet-making activities.

In designing these handicraft activities, our volunteers carefully considered the needs of the elderly. Through fan painting, we aimed to enhance hand dexterity and promote fine motor skills, while also encouraging creativity and appreciation of traditional aesthetics. The sachet-making activity, on the other hand, focused on emotional well-being. Filled with dried rose and lavender flowers, the natural floral scents help relax the mind, reduce anxiety and refresh the senses. The sachets can be placed beside the pillow or worn as a personal accessory to aid breathing and improve sleep quality. During the activity, volunteers also shared with the elderly the history and customs of sachets, adding a cultural dimension to the hands-on experience.

Beyond enabling the elderly to create their own practical and beautiful fans and sachets, the two activities were primarily designed to help them relax and enjoy the satisfaction and joy of the creative process. Wofoo Neighbour Hub will continue to bring together more like-minded individuals, reach out to different communities, and add warmth and colour to the daily lives of the elderly.
