My First Primary School Lesson: Character Building through Pottery

Date : 2026-04-11

On 7 February 2026, Wofoo Community Hub held the second session of its annual community programme, Lovin’ TY – Character Building Parent-Child Series, featuring Character Building Through Pottery. The event featured Principal Wong of Topkids International Kindergarten, a passionate advocate for pottery education, who led a team of fourteen dedicated teachers to offer over thirty parent-child pairs from the Tuen Mun and Yuen Long districts a creative and heart-warming hands-on pottery experience.

The venue was filled with laughter and excitement. The children explored the texture of clay with curiosity and delight, their eyes lighting up as they watched their creations take shape in their hands. Parents, patient and caring, worked alongside their children to create special memories through every mould and touch of clay — moments filled with warmth and connection.

With thoughtful preparation, Principal Wong and her team even collected leaves from nature to be used as decorative moulds, helping children to engage easily with the creative process. As the young participants shaped their pieces, supported and encouraged by their parents, they learned focus, built self-confidence, and discovered the joy of perseverance and appreciation — a truly meaningful expression of character education in action.

Principal Poon of W F Joseph Lee Primary School expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Principal Wong and the Topkids International Kindergarten team for their care and commitment, and joined the activity herself to experience the calming and inspiring nature of pottery creation. Principal Wong shared warmly:

“It was deeply touching to see how curious, engaged, and confident the children were — never giving up even when faced with challenges. This is the true essence of the activity. I sincerely look forward to working again with Wofoo Community Hub to bring more meaningful and heartwarming learning moments to our community.”
