The Kick-off Ceremony and Professional Development for the ” Character through the Lens of Data: APASO-III Learning Circle 2025/26″ was held on September 23, 2025. Due to the impact of the Typhoon, the event was shifted to an online format via Zoom. We extend our sincere gratitude to all participants for their understanding, cooperation, and support.
The objective of the project is to utilize the “Learning Circle” format to promote teachers’ effective use of the APASO-III assessment tool, thereby deepening strategies and practices for school-based character education. The project aims to assist schools in:
• Optimizing the operation and application of the APASO-III tool to interpret and utilize student data effectively.
• Identifying students’ needs in character, values, social, and affective development to formulate targeted educational strategies.
• Fostering cross-school exchange and collaboration among teachers, sharing practical experiences, and promoting school-based values education holistically.
To inaugurate the project, three expert speakers were invited to explore how to implement data-informed character education from three unique yet interconnected perspectives. The speakers were Dr. Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) of Hong Kong Baptist University; Professor Hau Kit-Tai, Research Professor of Educational Psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong; and Dr. Leung Kam Bor, Sherman, Founding President of the Association for Holistic Life Education.
The successful completion of this event relied on the strong support of the following organizations, to whom we express our special thanks: EDB, General Education Office, Hong Kong Baptist University, and Wofoo Youth Network. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the three speakers for their informative and highly inspiring professional sharing, and to Dr. Chan May Kuen Sylvia, MH, Principal of Ying Wa Primary School, for serving as the MC.
