Date : 2024-03-25

Wofoo Social Enterprise “HK.WeCARE” Platform collected 1,316 sets of valid data online between December 7, 2023 and December 21, 2023. Results show that Hong Kong’s family happiness index has dropped to 6.43 points (out of ten points) in 2024, but the decline has weakened compared to that in 2023. Respondents aged 65 or above saw a significant dip in family happiness index and personal happiness index. Data also shows that respondents who maintain communication with their family members when disagreements and conflicts arise tend to have happier families. However, Hong Kong people are weakest in expressing love through verbal communication in the five types of love languages surveyed. Guest speakers encouraged families to maintain healthy and rational communication with each other as much as possible when facing differences in opinion and conflicts.

The “Hong Kong Family Happiness Index” is a survey conducted by happiness advocacy platform HK.WeCARE – a sub-unit under Wofoo Social Enterprises – and its commissioned partner Tung Wah College School of Nursing as the research team. The platform measures and monitors the happiness of Hong Kong people on a personal, family and work levels in a scientific and empirical way, understand the reasons behind the happiness of Hong Kong people, and make targeted suggestions.
