HK.WeCARE “2025 Hong Kong Family Happiness Index”

Date : 2025-05-20

The Wofoo Social Enterprises platform, “HK.WeCARE,” recently released the 2025 Family Happiness Index, scoring 6.91 out of 10. This marks a slight recovery after three consecutive years of decline, although the figure remains below pre-pandemic levels. Notably, one-third of respondents rated their family happiness at 6 or below, indicating an average or even low level of satisfaction. The study identified four key factors influencing family happiness: (1) Personal Happiness Index, (2) Family Resources – Psychological Capital, (3) Family health, and (4) Family communication patterns (cp2).

The survey also highlighted three types of families with lower family happiness scores:

  1. Family Resources – Psychological Capital,
  2. Families that avoid communication, and
  3. Families with children aged between 6 to 12 years.

Expert Recommendations for Strengthening Family Relationships
Experts propose a multi-layered approach focusing on individuals, families, and communities to improve family relationships:
At the individual level, prioritizing personal mental health is essential under the principle of “self-cultivation before managing the family.”

At the community level, leveraging neighborhood support networks is recommended to address everyday challenges more effectively.
