Hong Kong Shared Good Values (HKSGV) supported the Tariffs and Trade Wars seminar, organized by the Hong Kong Policy Exchange in collaboration with the Federation of Overseas Alumni Associations and Deloitte China. Held successfully on May 10 2025, the seminar brought together over 100 participants from the finance, business, and academic sectors to discuss Hong Kong’s strategic responses and positioning amid shifting U.S.-China trade dynamics.
As a supporting organization, HKSGV actively invited representatives from policy, industry, investment, and education sectors to foster cross-sector dialogue and promote institutional innovation and forward-looking discussions.
The seminar featured keynote speeches by Professor Terence Chong of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Dr. Shih Wing Ching, Founder of Centaline Group. They provided insights into how global tariff policies affect Hong Kong’s economy, supply chains, and asset markets. The discussion session, moderated by Professor KC Fan of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, sparked lively engagement among attendees.
Participants noted that Hong Kong, as a free port with strong international connectivity, should evolve from a traditional gateway into a value-creating platform. By combining the financial credibility of an “Eastern Switzerland” with the institutional flexibility of a “Singapore PLUS,” and leveraging the timing advantages of regulatory innovation, Hong Kong is well-positioned to pioneer scalable cross-border collaboration models and enhance its global relevance.
HKSGV remains committed to its “Do Well, Do Good” vision, connecting stakeholders across government, business, civil society, and academia to help Hong Kong thrive sustainably in a rapidly changing world.
