The “Outstanding Student Citizen Awards 2024/25” organized by Wofoo Social Enterprise has been launched and the briefing session and seminar were held on 23 November 2024 and 30 November 2024 respectively.
The “Outstanding Student Citizen Awards” has been organized since 2012, which is a life-wide learning program on moral and civic education for primary and secondary school students. As one of the youth development activities of the Wofoo Youth Network, the program aims to cultivate the core civic values of respect, inclusiveness, love care, and responsibility through diversified learning and practicing activities, thereby laying a solid foundation for becoming a “responsible citizen”.
The program continued to receive funding support from the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE) this year, with 302 primary and secondary school students from 119 primary and secondary schools participating. The briefing and seminar as the first activity of the whole program were organized for the Best 10 Award of Wofoo HK Student Civic Ambassadors (past awardees) to share their experiences and achievements, which helped students build up their initial understanding of civic responsibility and the theme of the year “Love and Care”.
The Hong Kong Blind Union was invited to conduct a seminar with the students. On that day, students were able to interact with the visually impaired persons and guide dogs in person, which enabled them to understand more about the abilities of the visually impaired persons and their lives to promote the concepts and spirit of “Love and Care” and “Inclusion”. All participants were encouraged to put “Love and Care” at the forefront of their minds and to inspire others around them to fulfill their civic responsibilities.
