The 2nd Deignan Award for Responsible Entrepreneurship was successfully held on 29 March 2025 at the University of Saint Joseph in Macau. The ceremony welcomed over 100 guests from government, business, and academia, and was live-streamed to engage a wider audience in celebrating the power of purpose-driven business.
Under the theme “Corporate Philanthropy — Shared Value, Determination, and Empathy,” the award recognised 15 outstanding SMEs from Hong Kong and Macau across sectors such as technology, F&B, and social services. Four new special awards were introduced this year, spotlighting integrity, innovation, sustainability, and community care — reflecting the diverse dimensions of corporate social responsibility. Awardees from both regions showcased unique strengths: Hong Kong enterprises leveraged innovation and social enterprise models, while Macau SMEs focused on community services and industrial transformation, together building a more resilient and sustainable economy.
The ceremony was officiated by Dr. Stephan Rothlin S.J., Chairman of the Deignan Award Steering Committee; Dr. Joseph Lee, GBS, OStJ, JP, Vice Chairman of the Steering Committee; Prof. Alexandre Lobo, Vice Rector of the University of Saint Joseph; Ms. Cheang Hio Man, Deputy Director of the Macau Economic and Technological Development Bureau; and Mr. Ho Kai-ming, JP, Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare of Hong Kong — all of whom commended the awarded SMEs for their commitment to ethical and responsible business practices.
A special panel titled “Doing Well by Doing Good” featured awardees, scholars, and innovators sharing insights on how cross-sector collaboration, technology, and education can drive business with social impact.
