This year, Wofoo Community Service Network (WCSN) is hosting the “Family and Heart” program, aimed at prompting Hong Kong residents to reflect on parent-child communication and interactions.
As part of the initiative, Wofoo team conducted a survey titled “Top 10 Sentance Primary School Students Like and Dislike Hearing from Their Parents.” From April to June 2024, a total of 1,226 valid responses were collected from several primary schools, targeting students from grades 4 to 6. The survey results indicate that today’s children are most annoyed by remarks from their parents, which stem not from dissatisfaction with academic performance but rather from the “commanding” language parents often use in everyday interactions. Examples include phrases like “I’m counting to three! Three, two, one!” and “How many times do I have to say this?”
WCSN also specially created a video titled “Different Parents’ Day” based on the survey findings. The team invited five primary school students and their parents to participate in interviews, aiming to delve into the inner worlds of both children and parents and gradually bridge the gap in their relationships.
Wofoo Social Enterprises believes that positive communication is essential for building mutual trust in parent-child relationships.
