A group of young people from various academic backgrounds to the Netherlands to learn how the local government and citizens are effectively enhancing city resilience in facing the climate change threats through innovation and technology in May 2024.
During the 9-day eco-journey in the Netherlands, 30 young individuals traveled together to witness local efforts in promoting sustainable living, the circular economy, and water resource management. The itinerary included visits to the floating community – Schoonschip, the Floating Farm, the circular economy innovation hub and company – Blue City and van Plestik. Participants also engaged in exchanges with local university students and took part in community service activities.
Finally, we visited the Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands to understand international cooperation. The journey has broadened the youths’ horizons, and facilitated them on reflecting how to practice environmental conservation and promote sustainable development in daily life and in Hong Kong.
