The elderly from the NTWJWASSDL Pak U Neighbourhood Elderly Centre visited W F Joseph Lee Primary School to engage in computer programming activities with the students on 17th May, 2024, which is fostering intergenerational interaction without barriers.
During the event, students of the school’s Innovation Team guided the elderly to write a personalized game by using Scratch programming. Students showcased their STEAM learning achievements and presented their winning works from the CodeN’Sim Coding & Problem-solving Competition and the Robotic Bun Scrambling Competition.
The elderly enjoyed this unique experience and expressed their eagerness for more opportunities to engage with students. Students gained valuable insights and their communication skill with elderly from the participation in this service activity.
This service activity is under The Elder Academy Program, which will last for three years, aims to promote ongoing learning among the elderly and cultivate a sense of fulfillment within the community.
